I discovered my love for storytelling after reading my great-grandfather’s best-selling humorous fiction, “Kya Naw Lin.” The story is set in an alternate world where gender roles and social norms are reversed, portraying boys in an effeminate manner–something I always assumed was wrong and unnatural. As a queer boy struggling with his identity, this story captivated and showed me the power and the impact of storytelling. It inspired me to seek out other queer stories and eventually led me to start crafting some on my own. Without even realizing it, I found myself developing a passion for communication.

Although I initially pursued engineering in my undergrad studies, I decided to follow my true passion and pursue a career in communication. The ability to drive change and touch lives is what fuels my passion for this field. I feel privileged to have worked for one of Burma’s top media agencies, where I managed client relationships for various global brands and refined my skills in strategic communication, media relations, brand integration, and crisis communication. After three years, I decided to pursue a Master’s in Public Relations and Advertising from DePaul University and moved 8,367 miles to Chicago.

My career path has been filled with its fair share of challenges, but I believe that I learn and grow from these experiences. Throughout my journey, I have come to value every aspect of my story. I look forward to my future endeavors where I can continue telling stories that will compel positive perceptions, drive change, and build meaningful authentic connections.
